About us
Franklin & Southampton Unfiltered exists to connect our community — the City of Franklin, Southampton County and the towns and crossroads around them.
What started as a Facebook group where neighbors could ask questions, share news and look out for one another has grown into one of the busiest local conversations in our corner of Virginia. This website is the permanent home for the information that conversation keeps asking for.
What we do
- Keep people informed. Local news, public safety notices, school and government updates, weather and road information.
- Promote what's happening. A community calendar for festivals, fundraisers, church events, ballgames and public meetings.
- Support local business. A free directory of businesses across Franklin and Southampton County, with affordable ways to stand out.
- Help neighbors help neighbors. Lost and found pets, local jobs, yard sales and community announcements.
How the pieces fit together
This website is where information lives long-term — searchable, organized and easy to share. Our Facebook Group is where the community talks it through. Our Facebook Page and Instagram are where we share photos, reels and quick updates. Every story here links back to the conversation, so you can always join in.
Where information comes from
Some stories are our own reporting. Many are information shared by local agencies, schools, businesses, organizations and residents. We label every story clearly so you always know which is which, and we always credit the original source. See our editorial standards for details.
