Editorial standards & corrections
How we decide what to publish, how we label it, and how we fix mistakes.
Clear labels
Every story carries one of these labels:
- Original reporting — gathered and written by us.
- Shared information — published by another organization (for example a sheriff's office, school division or city department) and summarized or shared by us. The source is named and linked.
- Community submitted — sent to us by a resident or organization and reviewed before publishing.
- Sponsored — paid content from a local business or organization. It is always labeled.
Credit and images
We credit the original source of information and photographs. We only use images we own, have permission to use, or that were officially provided for promotion. We never remove another organization's watermark.
Moderation
Nothing submitted by the public is published automatically. We review every submission, and we don't publish unverified accusations against private individuals.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Updated stories show an "Updated" time and, when the change matters, a note explaining what changed. To request a correction, contact us.
